Calling all brunettes!!! Miracles do come true!

Deny it or not but we all want what can’t have. All blondes have wanted to go dark at one point or another, and all brunettes have longed for blonde locks. Collectively, we’ve all lusted for fun and funky colors like Kylie’s indigo locks, Rihanna’s firey reds, and many more. All of these fun colors are great for the blondes of the world (lucky bitches) but require a lot of freaking work for those of us blessed with dark locks.

Over the years I’ve bent over backwards to transform my hair into some crazy ass colors, but all the fun comes with a price. Damage. Split ends. Breakage. Hair loss. Awesome right? Totally. As brunettes we have to go through so much more when it comes to coloring our hair. Bleach is our number one frenemy, the ultimate no no, yet we slap it on our heads religiously to achieve our desired hair color, even though we know we’re going to pay for it later with a nice bald spot.

It’s 2016 people, we have cars that can drive themselves, we have vaccume robots, you can freaking pick your babies eye color, so for god’s sake what do we have to do to be able to dye our freaking hair Kylie Jenner blue without stripping it completely of life???

Generally speaking, in order for someone with dark hair to dye their hair a color you must first lift and lighten their hair with bleach, and then re deposit the desired color on top of the lightened hair. Basically, imagine you have a white piece of paper and a black piece of paper. If you take purple paint and begin painting the white piece of paper what color are you going to see? Purple. If you take purple paint and begin painting a piece of black paper what color are you going to see? Black. The same principles apply to your hair. The darker your hair, the less you’ll see the desired color, the lighter your hair the more you’ll see the desired color.

Finally science has blessed us with the miracle of bleach free hair color! SPLAT Midnight Hair Color Launched solely at Target this weekend, and brunettes across the land are having a field day. The new hair color line ditched peroxide for finely milled mirco pigments, these micro pigments attach to your hair strands providing high impact color without all the damaging effects of bleaching. It really doesn’t get any better than this! Forget that double, triple, hell sometimes quadruple process to get your hair to your desired color! Ditch the 3 hour marathon, and get your new hair color with just one step and a measely 45 minutes of your day.

Brunettes don’t get to have all the fun though, blondes are welcome to use SPLAT’s Midnight Hair Color line, however they are warned to be weary of how bright their hair may turn out depending on how light it is. Again, keep in mind that these pigments are strong enough to color dark hair, so on blonde it’s imagineable that it could be like 20x more intense than it’s normally supposed to be.

SPLAT Midnight is available in three fabulous colors; Midnight Indigo (Navy), Midnight Amethyst (Violet), and Midnight Ruby (Maroon). Plus it is super, crazy, amazingly affordable! $8.99 per box yesssss! From my previous experiences with SPLAT, I would advise anyone with long hair to purchase two boxes of hair dye or else you will find yourself in quite a pickle, having to rush to the store with half your head covered in hair dye and wrapped in saran wrap (yes this really did happen to me once). Fall just got way more fun, and I can’t wait to bring in the season with some Indigo hair. Stay tuned for my SPLAT Midnight Indigo test run!!!

Looking forward to seeing you try it out! Can’t find anyone else who has yet, and want to know if it’s worth getting my hopes up! I’ve dyed my hair blue and bleached and dyed my hair people before, but have given up doing so again due to not wanting to bleach my hair. This would be amazing for me if it really works!

I will def keep you updated! I went to 2 local Targets and they either don’t have it or it sold out or they haven’t put it on the shelves yet. If I can’t find it soon I’ll just have to order it and wait for it. I hope it works it would be amazing! Kinda on the fence though, sounds too good to be true. I went to school for hair, and this new dye goes completely against everything I know lol. So I’m somewhat skeptical.

I have the midnight ruby in right now processing. I have lighter brown/ red hair with slightly darker roots. It does say that dark hair may take the 60 minutes. I plan on doing 35-40. I’ll let you know how it goes.

It came out stunning. Somewhere between a ruby and black undertones. I love it. I will gladly send a photo if you want one. It was super fun. I think I would go 50 minutes and boy oh boy does it make a bloodbath in the shower coming out but easily comes off the scalp and not he hair with some good fingertip massage and shampoo. I see no reason not to give it a go. I protected my ears and forehead with Vaseline. I highly recommend it.

I did the Midnight Amethyst. My hair is dark-light brown with some blonde highlights. It came out so amazing!! I left it on for about 50 minutes & rinsed it out. I did have purple water in the shower for a few wks after but I’m re-applying color soon. Received so many compliments from co-workers, friends & strangers

I used the Ruby last night. It turned a deep red on my roots (which are pretty substantial since I haven’t dyed my hair in nearly a year) and grey hairs. The part of my hair still dyed black was not colored by this dye though it may be a little glossier than before. I would have liked for the black to pick up some red tones but I’m fine with the results either way. Overall, this product didn’t do any differently than I have been doing using Manic Panic on the undyed portions of my hair though it may last longer. I only used half of the bottle, that was enough to coat my waist length hair completely.

i used the midnight ruby about 3 weeks ago. LOVE it! My hair is naturally dark brown and i’ve been coloring my new growth for the last hundred years with permanent colors from the store… lately i had been using v.s london lilac. i decided i wanted to try something that wouldnt be so harsh and midnight ruby is it. it still looks dark until i get into the sunlight and BAM! i keep it in for 60 minutes. the new growth is definitely a brighter red of course but i didnt have a problem at all with the dark parts of my hair taking on the color. Good luck ladies!

OMG, do NOT buy this product! 45 min in, the only thing dyed is my scalp! After color is rinsed out it is the same exact color it was before, except now my vibrant purple scalp shines through in the most god awful blotchy patches! Currently redying, black, in hopes I can cover my scalp somehow.

My hair is medium brown, just tried the Midnight Blue. My scalp is a beautiful color of blue, but not my hair. Left it on for the highest recommended time (60 minutes) no go. Didn’t have very high expectations since there was no bleach included, and I watched all the blue literately go down the drain ( as I rinsed my hair).

Bought Midnight Ruby. Left on my dark brown, already dyed red hair for 70 mins. (I have low expectations). Rinsed in my now pink stained shower for almost 50 solid mins. Hair is coloured satisfactorily, although barely touched my 3′ roots. I’ll be sticking with my Feria V38. Splat is OK but not for me. Tried doing the ammonia free thing…meh. Feria is the same price and covers roots.

Bought this Sunday and dyed my hair. Left in for 60 minutes and it was gorgeous! Then I washed my hair again tonight and it’s almost all washed out?!? 2 showers and it’s gone. Super bummed about that.
