The nail salon is getting a wee bit pricey. So save your self an extra $5 and take your acryclic nails off on your own!
The easiest way to get your acrylic nails off on your own is to take a nail clipper and clip the tips off, especially if you wear crazy long nails. The shorter the better! Once you have clipped the tips of your nails off there are several directions you can go in. It’s really based on what you think is best.
A- You can go the route of acetone. You can order acetone online or buy it right at most local beauty supplies stores, or even places like WalMart or Target. For this you will want pure acetone, not acetone nail polish remover, there is a difference! Take the acetone, and dump enough to cover your nails into an old bowl or container. Literally all you need to do is soak your finger nails in the acetone. Do one hand at a time so that you can use the opposite hand to remove the acrylic with some sort of tool. I generally use either an orange stick which are very inexpensive to buy or one of those cuticle tools, which are also only a few dollars. This is the easiest way to remove the acrylic from your nails, but probably the most time consuming.
B- Do it like the pro’s do! You can purchase nail tips online or at WalMart for a few dollars and keep them on hand at your house, or you can fashion something similar. You basically just need something thin enough to slide under your nail so you can pop it off. At the nail salon they’ll take a nail tip and slide it right under the acrylic with ease, and bam it’s off. You can do this at home as well! This is the quickest and most efficient way to remove your own acrylic nails, but can be somewhat painful at times. So do it at your own risk. I prefer this method honestly, it’s so much faster than using the acetone, and less messy. It’s probably not the healthiest for your nails but it gets the job done.
It’s kind of a pain in the ass but removing your own acrylic nails at home is a time and money saver at the nail salon!
